Probably. There should be a black dot on your CF door (inside) if it shipped with the lastest Firmware.

i know that.. but funny thing - i don't have this black dot mentioned on canon web site

either way - i'm leaving it as it is... no problem found yet so no point of getting firmware...

i'm using 2x 256 CF Kingston and small 64 MB Rambus and it works fine.... so far...

Sorry. You can check the actual FW version using ZoomBrowserEX

Just did this. Haven't had a problem yet (knock on wood), but went for the gold anyway.

My camera had the old 1.0.0.0 software so I thought it would be good to update it. Once the file is unzipped it walks you through the process. The PDF instructions are pretty thorough and the tutorial that walks you (when the update file is unzipped) through is much more basic.

Plenty of warnings not to turn the power off while updating (once the file has been transferred to the camera's CF). I even held my breath as it updated.

Be a good boy and ask your dad to install the program and give access.

If I just ordered the camera today - I suppose I will still have to do firmware update - correct? Or is camera being upgraded before shipping? Somehow I doubt it.

Whether you get a camera with the update or not depends, I think, on how recently it was shipped.
