When I got my new Canaon S1 IS I recall setting the ISO level at 50.

A couple of weeks later, the Canon agents installed the firmware update that everybody's talking about.

Today I wanted to to try out other ISO settings. The instruction book says that the first two steps in doing this are -

1. press the Function button, and then
2. select the ISO speed using the up or down arrow....

I pressed the function button, but when I press the down (or up) buttons, it just skips the ISO ikon. The mode button, by the way was on the 'landscape' setting.

Am I doing something wrong? Have I missed something out?

I think I've figured it out - to change the ISO setting, the mode dial must be set at P, TV, Av, or M.

When it's set to 'landscape' the ISO is set automatically?
