Default Exif 2.2

Has anyone performed the Exif 2.2 upgrade on S30 or S40? If not, then did you send the camera for the upgrade or just kept it the original version? Is there a noticeable difference?

exif is just info on your images creation. exif 2.2 is just an extension of that data now . it added info used for printing. and cc work. there will be no image difference.

SJMS,

When you say "...no image difference." Do you mean the digital image or the printed image? I realize the digital image will be the same, but I'm under the impression the print quality will be better by having Exif ready printer and having the Exif 2.2 data. My printer supports Exif 2.2 and if a camera has Exif 2.2 data, then will the print come out better than if no data from Exif 2.2 or data from earlier Exif version?

I appreciate your input.
Thanks!
...frank

there is no image difference in the form of what is on your memory card. the exif 2.x data is used by the printer to get color contrast and such info to the printer for better results. if you look on a screen ther will be no image quality difference.

if you put your card into or have a printer that supports exif 2.2 it is supposd to print that picture exactly as you saw it when you shot it.

there are 2 competing similar systems like this on the market today

PIM 2.x- designed and supported by Epson
EXIF 2.x- supported by Canon

it supposed to take the guess work out of printing on a injet printer today.

Default EXIF 2.2 standard - the new PIM?

FYI

... So, in a way, Exif 2.2 represents a standardization to implement PIM across the entire industry

In a way Canon tries to sneak pass Epson since they didn't come up with PIM originally for their printer, and they hold a big-stick in their 'Japanese Association'.
