Default G3 or Olympus E-10

I am going to buy my first digital camera, and am an avid photographer. I want to have control, however, I often use my camera point and shoot sytle with my young duaghter, whom waits for no camera! I am considering the new Canon G3, but interestingly the Olympus E-10 is not far off in price. Anyone have opinions or ideas as to which might be the better camera to purchase? I must do something in the next month. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge. M-Girl

How about the olympus 5050? 5mp's cf and xd and sm card compatibility and a much smaller and lighter camera that the E10. Iuse it quite a lot for impromptu shots, and the small size makes it less intrusive. it also has great manual control and a fast 1.8 lens.
It is also substantially cheaper that both the G3 and the E10.
