This is very interesting, creative and way above my abilities... and I LOVE my S1, but why not just buy a Rebel and cut to the chase? And get 6 megapixels?? You had to have spent some bucks on all that stuff. But with a lot of second hand rebels out there, or even new, it would have to be cost competitive and an integrated system from the ground up.

This is not a criticism. I am impressed.

Thanks for the praise, just added a 20Watt camcorder light so I can shoot video at night. Maybe i can also use it as a assist beam.

Rebel yeah, out of my league, also if need be I can turn it back to a portable camera. Here is the cost for the attachments...(taxes are inc.)

.5x wide angle lens - $15
2x teleconvetor lens - $15
7x macro lens (binnoculars) - $17
3 lens attachment rings - $30
ABS tubes - $20
flash trigger slave $23
flash $0 (old prev camera) used are about $20/60
total...... $120 + 550 (inc tax) camera

time spent...... priceless :G

BTW....This is all in Canadian pesos!!!!

That is great. "$120 + 550 (inc tax) camera" I wonder what would that be in real money. Euros of course as the American dollar is getting worthless.

Oh separate. Rebels are dropping like crazy I see. Isaw one this morning in the paper with the 18-55 lenskit is going for$799 at Wolfe Camera...

Kav, If your reffering the the american green back as real money, Here is my estimate from Can to US funds. 670 Can is little over 800 US. Not to bad. You got me thinking of the rebel if it drops any further it is somewhat reachable for me. Not sure how long it will become 650US for the body. I'll wait. I picked the S1 in Dec of 2004 so there is no rush -cheers

Yeah Wise, your probably right. I'm just throwing numbers. As I look at your math, it makes more sense. Anyway, Is the 760mm figure correct? -cheers
Can vivitar lens be fitted on S1? Don't you need a lens adpator for it? If so, what did you use?

I bought the lens used, far cheaper, not as good though. I used home made parts (plumbing supplies) to fit lens onto the IS. BTW I believe the lens came with a 52mm threaded ring, it should fit onto the adapter lens/tube, and that too cost money. Now you know I'm cheap -garman
