Late last summer, just having driven narrow unpaved and uninterrupted road for maybe a hundred miles in Idaho's primitive North Clearwater River region, here climbing up towards the pass and into Montana:

(Doing a little rearranging of the thread - putting so many pictures in each post made the page too long and slow-loading...)

This is the Snake River south of Palouse Falls, and west of Lewiston and Clarkston - one entrance to Hell's Canyon. Too bad for me I wasn't taking pictures the many times I've been in and above Hell's Canyon. A fascinating place that barely has winter at the bottom, but more plenty of it at the top... Anyway, the Snake is very wide at this point.
