Default Canon S230 vs S30 (Updated Drivers)

I am debating between these two cameras and one of the pros of the S230 that I've read about is the new logic in the software.

If I bought the S30 and updated its drivers, would I be able to reap the same benefits?

Default Driver updates

It would make no diff. The S230 has a new DIGIC processor that improves the images.

A firmware upgrade would not make the S330 as good as the S230 in that respect.

I chose the S230 because I love new technology. Plus the S230 has 3MP, and improved movie mode to 3 minutes and an extra resolution size 640x480. No other Canon digital camera takes videos in 640x480 resolution!!! Not even the G3!
