Default s230

I just read this on some site about the s230...The bad: Limited zoom range; occasional purple fringing; some color shifts with purples and reds.

could anyone w/ the s230 comment on this? thx a lot

I have a 230, and I can certainly agree with the limited zoom range. It just never quite seems like enough. However, the camera is so portable I take it many places I wouldnt bother to take a larger camera, so I get alot of shots I otherwise wouldnt.

As to the fringing and color distortion, I've taken maybe 100 pictures with the 230, and have seen no evidence of that.

In this camera's form factor, the zoom range is about all you can stuff into it. I don't think it is a minus, but merely a fact of life. Possibly the same with limitations of the lense and CA. I bought mine purely to serve the purpose of a "very portable and durable camera". Overall I have been very satisfied with the image quality given the size limiations.

I am currently deciding on what my higher end camera will be.
