not sure, but if you're asking because you plan on taking movies with it, then you should know that it can only write 1gb at a time, you have start 2 movies to fill up a 2gb card for instance.

i think according to canon on web 2gb, but i have heard of many using the new 4gb microdrives without a problem. maybe we can get a definitive here?:?:

I've used a 4GB MD without a problem, although my MD is kaput right now.

You can even go for 6GB Hitachi Microdrive or any other new releases. It's is compatable.

is also compatible but will set you back a few bucks (price not announced yet).

Of course, the soon to be released 80GB will be even nicer!!

Imagine an 80GB Compact Flash microdrive!!

Even the old S1 could store 12 hours of movies!

And when the new S2 is released (with mpeg4) it will hold up to 50 hours of mpeg4 movies on one huge 3K80 microdrive!!

Camcorder tapes are dead man. Dead dead dead.

Please note that you cannot use S1 like a camcorder in all the ways...

S1 heats-up, when used more than 20 minutes (2GB) of continous shooting in high resolution (with 5 seconds break in between).
