Default Canon G2 or G3?

Just purchased a G2 for $549. I can get the G3 for $729. Do the improvements on the G3 warrant paying $180 more. Clearly, I got a better deal on the G2. Your facts/opinions are welcomed.

Thanks,
TJ

I think you're right and I did the same thing as you. The new features of the G3 don't worth the difference of price. The G2 is still one of the best camera!

Thanks Geff. I think I made the right decision as well.

I own both and prefer the G2 image quality. Congratulations on your new camera.

Explain the difference in image quality. Is it digital quality or physical,(the lense)? I am considering both as well. What I have read about the G3's new image processor led me to believe it is considerably better at image quality as well as speed. I am very interested to hear more about your experiences with both the g2 and g3.

Its hard to describe and depends on taste. The g2 is warmer and brighter to me. The 3 is cooler and has some real dark spots.
Ive seen some CA as well, which I dont usually see with the 2.
I have taken some great pictures with it though. But when its bad, its bad. Likes sunny days. The 3 does tend to be a little sharper most of the time. I suggest you look at as many photos as possible, hold the cameras, and decide. Happy shooting.

Ignore previous advice if you read it.

Bait and switch store. see www.resellerratings.com . Very poor comments. Read number three or four about the G3. I wouldnt use them if I were you.

Aorta, thanks for the info. I should be more careful about what I post. Every single comment about these people is negative.

Default Happy with my G2!

Thanks to all who responded to my post. Your opinions are greatly appreciated. I am very happy with my new G2! I got to use it extensively over the Xmas holiday and now feel that the many weeks I spent researching digital cameras was well worth it.

Thanks again!
