It seems that the NR algorithm is a bit too aggressive (see the 2nd shot, full tele).

In the last one there is a fair amount of noise:

as Is the caso for FZ20 5 Mp do require far greater efforts than 3 Mp...

If anyone can read Japanese, I'd like to know what ISO these shots were shot in, especially the last one. Thanks in advance.

Alot of purple fringing apparent. Especially the 2nd pic.

All shots were in the Auto mode and Canon does not show ISO in EXIF in Auto. Purple fringing probably caused by f4 full zoom in Auto. Canon Auto mode is not that good. Try this for English.

Oh YIKES... I've now seen several samples from foreign sites as well as a few from folks who have picked up this camera early, as well as the samples from Jeff's site over at dcresource, and yowsa, I gotta say I think Canon really messed up on this one. I think you could take S1 pics and interpolate them yourself up to 2500 or so pixels and get better quality from what I'm seeing so far.

JUST a *personal* opinion here - I'm certainly known to give 'em. LOL

Dang it - might have to find someone who's bought this thing locally and bribe them into a loaner for a day so I can do some side-by-side S1 vs S2 shots now. GRRRR.
