Default Dark photos with S40

Hello. I'm a new user of the S40 and just developed my first "roll" of film. I took them all in auto mode with M1 compression. They look fine on the LCD and on my computer screen. However, the developed pictures (Sam's Club) all appear darker then they should be. The worker there said that's a typical problem of digicams. Has anyone else seen this problem and if so, any suggestions on how to correct it in the future? Thanks

Sounds like bad developing. I would try another on-line service (such as Shutterfly or Ofoto).

They should develop the same as on your computer. I'd also go else where.
