Default MY G1 DIED - HELP!

I'VE BEEN USING MY LOVELY G1 FOR SOME TIME NOW - I'VE TAKEN OVER 15,000 PICS WITH IT.

THE PAST FEW MONTHS, EVEN WHEN THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED, WHENEVER I OPEN THE SWIVER LCD, IN JUST A FEW SECONDS, I GET THE LOW-BATTERY INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT. I CLOSE THE LCD AND IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL FULL CHARGE INDICATOR AND I JUST SHOOT USING THE VIEW FINDER.

LAST WEEK AT THE DETROIT AUTO SHOW, I WAS HALF WAY THROUGH A ZOOM AND THE ENTIRE CAMERA WENT DEAD. SWITCHING BATTERY PACKS AND DIRECT PLUG INTO THE WALL SOCKET DID NOTHING. HERE IT SITS WITH LENS HALF OUT AND ELECTRONICALLY DEAD AS A DOOR NAIL!!

HAS ANYONE HAD THIS TROUBLE?
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH IT?

ANY SUGGESTIONS WELCOME.
