Hi,

if i'm going to buy a lensmate adapter and uv filter + cap for my S2 purely at this stage for protection of the original zoom lens which is the size to go for.

52mm or 58mm.

I bought the LensMate adapter, and opted for the 58mm size. If you're sure you'll never buy a lens converter (wide-angle or zoom) for the S2, then the 52mm may bea better option solely because filters etc. will be a little less expensive in a 52mm size than in a 58mm size. But if you want to keep the option open for converters later on (as I did), the 58mm is the one to go for. I can't see that there would be much difference in terms of optical pros and cons for each size... others may have different opinions with this respect.
