I am looking at purchasing a small digicam that's very portable & also can be used with a waterproof case, and I saw the SD300 on Steve's Best camera list.

Of course, the SD500 looks better to me with its 7 mpx & other upgrades, but I'm wondering why it's not on the list, whereas the SD 300 is.

I am also looking for a camera with a really good picture, and I'm wondering if the Nikon coolpix series (like the one also mentioned in Steve's best camera list under ultra pocketable cameras) would have a better picture quality.

Any feedback of thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Erica:?

Hi.

I have an SD400.

IMO, the SD500 isn't justified for the extra cost. People complain about the picture quality with it - a lot. If you just want a nice point and shoot small camera, then the SD300 should be just fine for your needs.

My friend has one - the picture quality is pretty much the same as my SD400, if you don't do a lot of heavy cropping.

Cya.
