I have noticed that wether I turn Red-eye in the menu on or off, the flash remains the same. Anyone else notice this problem? Am I doing something wrong?

The red eye reduction has nothing to do with the flash. The flash fires the same, but a red eye reduction lamp will also beam out (this is the same light that blinks in timer mode) to make the person pupils constrict and reduce the reflection of the flash, thus reducing red eye.

Thanks. My Fuji A202 used a preflash, so I assumed it was the best/only way to reduce red-eye on a compact.

Guess I should have read the manual more carefully.

Thanks for the reply.
