Hello,

you can use optical zoom up to 4x while making video. I have been doing this for few months already with A610. There are 3 modes of video setting - standard, fast-frame and compact. So far, i have observed that the zoom cannot be used if you are in compact setting but ok for standard setting. I haven't tried though on the fast-frame (60 fps) yet.

Here's a plus- you can actually combine both optical and digital zooming whilemaking videos.

Hi,

If using the standard mode, you can choose between 60 fps or 30 fps. You can also choose the resolution between 640 and 320. If you're planning to burn your videos in DVD format, use the 640.

Hi,

There is no ability (as far as I can tell) to use any optical zoom in any video mode. It does not matter what setting you choose (standard, fast, compact, my colors). The only mode that even lets you do digital zoom is the standard mode, with the othermodes you cannot use it at all.

I think that people who say you can use optical zoom are not realizing that they are only using digital zoom - the way to prove this is to turn off digital zooming in the options and you will find that you now cannot zoom in any movie mode at all (including standard).

I hope this helps,
