Default resolution and compression regarding prints

Just got an S230.

IF one *had* to make a choice, which would yield better quality 10x15cm prints:
M1 mode (1600x1200) and Superfine, or
M2 mode (1024x768) and Fine

Thanks for the tips.

please disregard the question since i accidentally switched the wording around:

i meant:
M1 mode (1600x1200) and Fine, or
M2 mode (1024x768) and SuperFine

sorry for the inconvenience...

I was going to say.... from the choice in the first post, the answer was easy!

I hate to say it, but I have no experience with that camera. The best way would be to try it out. Do realize that compression is subject dependent. Fine details will be jpg-compressed away (like hair, or distant ripples on water.)

I'd do some searching in the general or newbie forum to see what resolution is recommended for what size of print. This has come up before.

My guess would be that the higher resolution would be better. Ya, that means fewer pictures per memory card. Such is life.

In the end, you are the one who's opinion matters. If the SuperFine pictures look good, then use it.
