I have a Digital Rebel XTand a variety of lenses, tripod, flash, gray card, etc. Does anyone have a sure fire method of getting skin tones correct shooting indoors and under a variety of lighting conditions? My pictures are often on the red side.

I have the same problem (powershot pro 1 ) when i use internal flash allways colors are on the red side especially skin tones are verry reddish like "Joe Dalton":G. i tired every white balance option but does not help. I solved the problem by custom white balance--> use aLIGHT YELLOWsurface ( not white ) for cutom white balance. I used a door of light yellow and thats it. Now i have very natural skin tones...... My solution is not veryaccurate it is eye dependent but it works.... And best part it is free....:-)

Thanks - I will give this a try but I'm not sure that my wife will let me paint the front door yellow :-)

So yellow takes the redish out? thats a cool tip. Ill have to try it.

What if you use a bulb that has that yellow type os cast pointed at a white BG then you turn it off and use your camera lights? I know when the flash is on it calibrates its own WB so you pretty much have to adjust the WB with no flash.

If its red with the flash maybe you could use a white sheet of thin paper to defuse the flash and put a small yellow dot on the center so the flash has color? could be fun to test.
