I have a Canon S45 and love the image quality for the camera, but I want to get a longer zoom and I'm considering the S2 IS (or the S3). I get chronic red eye on the S45 and I am tired of fixing good pics with software. I think dpreview experienced red eye with S2. Any S2 owners willing to comment on that? Is the Sony H1 better for red eye? I assumed that the pop up flash would eliminate the problem, but... ????

Thanks !! Keither

The pop up flash does help.. Though almost any point and shoot will give you red eye.. I think on average.. out of 100 indoor pics.. I'll get 15-20 redeyed shots.. not too bad at all I think.

As for the H1.. I'm not sure about redeye.. but the colors from that camera are pretty bland.. The S2 colors are incredible.

Thanks for the quick reply ! From reading review upon review, it seems that none of these "super zoom" cameras has teh complete package. Always some compromise. Since I have a new granddaughter the movie mode interests me in the S2, but I really am trying to avoid the red eye, too. I welcome your input... you seem to have quite a bit of experience with this camera. Thanks again! :-)
