Hi, I am trying to help my friends out who have a Sony Cybershot P52. Everything worked great with it until recently. They got Comcast broadband and updated their Windows ME and started up and updated their Norton Antivirus. Now when they plug in the camera to the USB, the USB Normal message still shows on the LCD screen, and the computer shows the USB device is connected, but no drive letter is allocated for the camera like before - it was given drive F: as a removalbe storage drive.

Does someone know what is causing this to happen now?

First;y i would reinstal the drviers as i cant remember if win me can run usb digicam std. the updates may have adjusted std usb drivers. see if tht does anything.

does the computer make some sort of noise to symbolise it detects the cam connected,

i would try puting the cam into a diff usb port and see what happens, or go to control panel and manuall add hardware and let the wizard do a seach with the cam attached

ohh yea and btw this is the canon forum.
