Today I played with the SM feature of my S2 and the results were much more positive. Overall I was able to capture great details with good color saturation and sharpness. I had the camera hand held,effect set to "custom" with increased sharpness, ISO set to 50, metering set to matrix and WB set to daylight. Here are some of the best shots:

Very nice! All in all I would say the S2's strongest point is it's super macro mode. It shines there.
