I was checking out the specifications of the A430, and then I saw that its sensor size was 1/3.1, as compared to the normal 1/2.5 or 1/1.8 for other cameras.

Does that mean that the image quality will not be good ?

The sensor on the A430 is small even for budget cameras. It has 1/3.0 sensor. It only has4 megapixels, which will help increase the light sensitivity a little, but won't do much.It also has a 39mm wide angle, which is downright sad.

The small sensor will cause noise and reduce light sensitivity.

The canon A510 is about $50(?) more than the A430, and has a 1/2.5 sensor and 35mm wide angle. This is a much better camera.

There are a couple that I am also looking at -

Powershot A530

Powershot A540

Something that is excellent on a tight budget, from Canon.

I would go with the A610/620 because they have larger imagers.

We dont have much reviews on the A530/540 so lets wait and see.
