Except for being a bit dark, I liked the first one quite well. The background is way too distracting on the second, but the exposure was better. I really liked the third one! I didn't care too much for the last one. I'd recommend rotating correctly before posting. I'd say that overall it's a good start. I'm sure others here can provide more specific advice.

Hit the nail right on the head

yes i would agee with this comment. it seems to me tht the composition is the part which needs the most work. If you are looking for technical critique (exposure, sharpness, dof, colour casting, saturation, contrast blah blah blah....) try posting one shot in the critiques and techniques forums or here. I can see a range of techniques which could be applied in order to get improved results. but too many shots

practice will make perfect, but yes i think try experimenting with the camera capabilities and what each thing does.

check this out. intro to composition. ther are much beta sites out ther but all the good urls are on my home comp

http://www.megapixel.net/html/articles/composition.php

You have done really well for a first time user. Keep up the practise you can only get better.

All the best

Ken
