Default Using polarizing lens on G2

We plan on using polarizing lens to take photos of VIN numbers through windshields of automobiles for forensics purposes. Does anyone have experience doing similar work? Lenses have not been ordered yet.

It will help, but isn't a cure all. Your results with the filter will be better than w/o. Remember to rotate the filter for best results.

The fellow that responded forgot to tell you to be sure to get a Circular Polarizing filter, not a linear polarizing filter. The circular type has a rotatable ring that allows it to be turned 360-degrees. Linear filters will mess up your auto focus system too.

Watch your LCD monitor to see the angle at which it blocks out the reflections from the windshield. They work like polaroid sunglasses to stop light reflection from given angles. And speaking of polaroid sunglasses - don't wear them when you need to look at the LCD or you're liable to see nothing but a large, black square

Thanks to everyone for the replys. I plan to start ordering the filters for the agents in the next week or so. This will be a learning experience as I anticipate taking these pics in all types of ambient conditions.
