does the canon sd450 dock as a USB mass storage drive when you plug it into your computer?

i thought this would be obviously true, but i found a blog where somebody said the camera doesn't work that way. why would anyone make a camera that doesn't do that??

It does on my notebook running XP. Don't know about a Mac.
