Hello, right now I am contemplating between purchasing a Canon Powershot S3 or a Sanyo Xacti C6 because I want a camera that has reasonably good still and movie capabilities.

I know the Xacti has pretty good compression but I was wondering, how many minutes of 640x480 30 fps video would I be able to store on a 1gb SD card with the Powershot S3?

Also, can anybody recommend other still cameras that record reasonably good movies?

Thanks,

Steve

My S2 IS can fit about 15.5 minutes on a 2 GB San Disk Ultra II (reads 1.8 GB in camera). That's at highest resloution (640x480 30 fps), and the quality is very good.

On the S3 IS you'll get about 8 minutes on a 1GB card using 640x480/30fps.

I have a 4GB card in my S3, video automatically shut off a little over 8 minutes in to shooting (at 640x480 x 30fps). Hit the button again, immediately picked back up recording. The timestamp color went red at about 8 minutes in to recording.
