Default G3 Boxes Sealed?

Can someone please tell me whether or not Canon ships the G3 (US model) in a *sealed* box?

Also, does anyone know how to decipher the serial numbers for manufacture date, etc?

Thanks!

Err.... what's the relevance? If the box is the same as the UK version, it doesn't come with a security seal (if that's what you mean!).

Just wanted to verify I received a new camera, as company claimed the box was sealed, but wasn't. Thanks.

I am a retailer of cameras. When the client ordered a new G3, it did not come shrinkwrapped or sealed.

Hi I just received my G3 today. It is not sealed.
But when I use the zoom dial, I hear some noise, probably from the spring inside. Is this normal? Do you have that noise too? Or I got a defected camera?

Thanks!
