Default Just purchased S45

I purchased the Canon S45 from Dell on 6-6-03 for $409 total. Regular price was 499.00 with 10% off and another $45.00 off and free shipping came to 409.00. I chose it over the A70 because I felt from tne reviews and pics I had seen taken by the two that it was a much better camera and the slighly higher price is well worth the extra features and better pictures. Also realize that there are more differences between the two than were mentioned in here, such 9 point vs 5 point focusing, and others. The picture quality of the S45 is proven to be better as well. Just my 2 cents.

Default s45/50

The s45 and 50, look significant;y better.

most significant is the 1/1.8 CCD, (s400,s45,s50) rather than the 1/2.7 CCD in the A70.
the A70's faster shutter speed is 1/2000, not the 1/2500 first mentioned.

If you're regularly usign those shutter speeds, then perhaps you should go for something more advanced, D6?

The larger CCD /more light gathering(s50), should surely help at higher shutter speeds, anyway. producing a less noisy picture.

neither are small nor pretty, the s400 has the edge there.
The bottom line, is if you don't have your camera with you, you can't take pictures.

Woww..... this threat is still alive !!

Update: Got the A70 from BusinessDepot for $499 + tax. Been using it for a month now, everything is quite good. From close up fish macro to indoor pic.

It might have been better if...
1) stronger flash
2) even closer macro
3) deeper tripod hole(my tripod has a long screw, it doesn't go in all the way,
4) neck strap instead of wrist strap
5) hard cover for the USB/AC slot
6) unlimited movie length mode

Anyone have more to add on ??
