Default noise problem with my A70

Has anyone else had problems with the amount of noise in their A70 pics? It seems a bit on the excessive side.
I've fiddled with as many settings as I can think of. Even at the Auto, ISO 50, large/superfine quality and well lit conditions I get pictures that have a lot of noise. My brother and my friend both have much older 2MP P&S cameras (one is Minolta 2300, the other Fuji 4800Z) and the amount of noise in their pictures is far lower than mine.
I really would appreciate if someone could help me otherwise it looks like I'm going to have to send it to Canon for some (hopefully) fixing, which I won't be able to do until september.
Thanks,

Kain

Maybe you A70 is faulty. I use it on ISO 50 and 100 and get nearly no noise, even in low light. Have you set the image quality to Large/Superfine? - best results this way. Plus make sure youre gettin quick enough shutter speeds to avoid camera shake. Otherwise I don't know.

I've compared shots between my S30 and A70, and there is more noise in the A70, alot more. I'm going to get in contact with Canon over this, cause you can really see the difference between the S30 shots and A70 shots. otherwise it's a nice little camera.

I'll reiterate what was said but, on my A70 there sems to be no noise at the lower ISO settings.

This is how much noise I get on my A70.

This is the right side of my nephews face pixel resized to 400%. Most of it looks like compression, but there is some noise mixed in.

I believe this to be normal as the A70 has a very small CCD. This CCD makes the camera prone to noise.

For example, I believe a Canon 1Ds 400 ISO has less noise than the A70's 100 ISO. This is due to the 1Ds's large film sized CCD.
