I'm thinking of buying a Powershot SD700 IS. I have a vague memory that last year Canon had many complaints about a certain type of error on one or more of their Powershots: the lense would freeze and it cost a substantial amount to remedy. While consumers were claiming it was a computer/manufacturing defect, I recall that Canon was holding fast that the problem was caused by contaminants, like sand, lodged in the lense apparatus. Is this type of difficulty reported with the SD700 IS and its predecessors?
