Soon after testing a new generic AC power adaptor on my QV4000, I noticed the LCD screen became blacked outand all efforts to restore it since have failed. Looking back, even though I carefully increased the voltage setting by increments until it eventually worked, it would appear this process did not 'agree' with the camera, which was working fine prior to this.

The camera still appears to power up OK (the lens pops out as usual and there are the usual whirring and other noises from within) but I don't get the green light when attempting to focus, and pressing the shutter produces nothing but a black image on my Microdrive.

Can someone tell me what I could try to get it to work again? Failing that, could anyone say if this sounds like an (economic) repair or should I put it down to experience and start - very sadly - looking for a new camera?

Thank youin anticipation for any help offered.
