Hi,

After laying dormant for a while I think my EX-Z40 is dead. But in saying that I'm assuming that this fairly underwhelming camera operates in the cradle regardless of the state of the battery (which is reading ~0V). At present I get no life from the camera/cradle whatsoever. I have tried connecting it to a PC and nothing happens. Also tried removing battery and waiting.

Can someone advise:
  • whether the camera should operate (photo mode or usb) in the cradle, regardless of the battery?[/*]
  • if the decription above suggests symptoms of a known problem - does the cradle (which seems pointless vs a USB cable) ever fail?[/*]
  • if I should try replacing the battery (at the risk of buying a new battery for a junked camera).[/*]
Cheers,

Lee

I should also add that I tested the adaptor; which was fine. Also; are there any other large Casio forums I should post to in case no-one replies here?

You might try the Casio forum at http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/; it has more traffic.
