after transfering photos and video to a folder, when I try to play the video I get the message " microsoft --- needs to close". The photos open ok, but if I try to play the video the error message appears. I can drag the message aside and open the video and play it. casio ex-z750 -toshiba 1gb sd card. I've tried reformatting card. Any ideas please

Right click a movie file: Open with > Windows Media Player. If the video plays OK you have a problem with VLC.

If it plays OK with WMP then you might uninstall VMC and install the latest version. Or just change the default to WMP.

If your videos won't play in the WMP I couldn't guess what could be wrong. You could try updating Windows and the WMP. Have you edited the movies at all?

Would be nice if we also know what kind of system you have. Are you using Windows 98, XP or Vista? What video card , how much memory etc. thanks.

hi guys, when I open with WMP, latest version it opens the vid and freezes on the first frame and wont play any further. Open with VLC and it plays ok except for that error . The problem happens opening any AVI file , whether it be a movie or camera vid. I tried disabeling Windows explorer error message in control panel - system etc but it still appears. I installed some debugging program from Microsoft last nite but that did nothing. AVI's play ok on my laptop. My computer is - pent 4, 2.6 GHZ, 768 ram, basic video card. The thing is ,this error has appeared only in the last 6 Months and I dont want to do a system restore to try that

I installed VLC windows media player in my two computers and I found it problematic. It either works or not. It works on one computer and not on the other. I don't really know why. There is nothing to adjust or change in the VLC menu. Iprefer to use Power DVD or Windows Media Player.
