To those who are familiar with casio's Exilim history:

How often does casio update their top model ? (Ex-Z750 at present)

I am going on a long trip end of this year or it might not be before spring 2005, so I was wondering if it could be useful to wait for a new model ?

I bought their first Exilim, the M2 and it's still being used. They do introduce new models often so I'd wait. You'll have more choices before Xmax I suspect but I'm just basing this on gutt feeling for what it's worth.

blues434: The Ex-z750 is a fine camera, but I'd wait if you can. My reasoning is that with the 750 they've reached the heights with battery life and movie mode, have done very well with performance and picture quality, and have hit the 7MP mark that I doubt minis are likely to continue climbing past. So what's next? Hopefully working on the weak flash that all Ex supercompacts have had. So if you can wait for their second 7MP offering, I'd do so, although be aware that if it comes out right before your trip you'll have to buy it at top price and there's the possibility of bugs, plus it won't be well reviewed yet. In any case, if you don't need it now, the Ex-z750 is probably going to keep getting cheaper the longer you wait.

EDD: I used the M2 for years, that was one heck of a nice little camera. So small I got mugged without losing it.

a4phantom,

sounds good.

I agree the flash could be more powerful, but what about increasing the number of pixels in the lcd screen ?

That would be a improvement, also a faster serie picture mode would be nice.

Good points, I'd forgotten those. Ideally they could also withdraw the screen a little into the camera to prevent scratches, and use a better anti-glare coating. Unfortunately I don't think the optical view finder has literally any room for improvement.
