:? Well on the strength of Ken Rockwells experience and lots of other positive reviews I thought this would be an ideal creative/portable backup to my heavier SLR gear.I miss so many opportunities to take pictures by not having a 'pocket' camera and this model seemed to offer all the control i would otherwise miss having in a palm size container!

Sadly....I didn't remember to check in here first:sad:!

I have taken onboard all the thoughts about disabling auto-on,setting it to 'audio' when carrying it and not trying to use super hi-speed cards.

I would guess that for every faulty camera there must be many that aren't?
But I don't feel terribly lucky .

If the camera has been available for over 6 months surely Casio would have done something about what seems a fairly catastrophic problem.
?

Anyway, fingers and toes crossed and make sure I get that warrenty registered??

Any encouraging thoughts appreciated.

Been using it for three months plus (disabled the power on option on the first day), no problem so far. Cheers.

High speed cards have nothing to do with lens errors. A standard card will slow your cycle times.

If you get into the habit of switching the mode dial to audio before you put it in a pocket, pouch or purse you are very unlikely to get a lens error.

No problems here either! Just remember to keep

your fingers away from the lens barrel when turning on!

I love the Big 2 1/2" LCD it's awsome! Have a 2 Gig Sandisk

UltraII SD Card and get over 450 7meg pics!

...thanks for your encouraging thoughts everyone......but in the end I cancelled the order!
I would just never have trusted it and there is nothing worse than broken toys!

My other half bought me a little Olympus mju mini to make up for it and it is super!Probably not as 'good' as the casio but construction is solid.....no lens errors...(yet)!

I think the mju is called the 'verve' in the 'States?
No idea why?
