have tried using avic to change the casio files fourcc to divx & dx50, so that vegas will recognise them but no luck.

I spoke too soon, there is no m4s2 codec metioned in the list in f. Media player will open the files. Vegas only opens the sound. Videoman opens them fine but I prefer vegas.

hi timtak - there is an ms42 codec in ffdshow under the divx4 bit -

if you go to windows program menu & choose 'VFW codec configuration' from the ffdshow menu,
then click on decoder & change the divx4 from disabled to libavcodec (it says supported 4cc's 'divx, mp4s, mp4v, m4s2') then it should work .
took me fekkin ages to work that out !
I got all my movies into vegas from the casio this way sound & glorious vision..
hope it works for you too ..

That was superb! Thank you very much. As you know there are three setting programs with fddshow. I had tried each of them but I had notnoticed the decoder tab of the VFW configuration program.

My Fddshow (as part of the combined community codec pack) is slightly different in that in the column on the left it does not say divx4 but "generic MPEG4."

It now works even with the Sony Vegas trial edition!

Thank you for this piece of very helpful advice.

Tim

I had forgotten what to do on another computer and once again your advice here saved my life.

Calling all Casio users - this is how to make Casio's mp4's work with Sony Vegas.

Hi to everyone. I have the same problem you´d used to have. I follow the instructions but I still see the orange track video in vegas. I need to find a solution quickly cause it´s my son´s birthday on saturday and I want to edit a clip for him.
Is there anything else to try ?

Greetings !

It has worked for me every time.
Down load cummunity codec pack
install
set the mp4 codec
reboot (perhaps)
bingo
