At last the solution: Sanyo Xacti DMX-HD2 or Xacti DMX-HD1000 - they have an audio cable apparently.

Yes, I am now a proud owner of a Sanyo Xacti DMX HD2. The plug in power microphone does not seem to work but dynamic microphones do work for me.

Now I can vlog in the supermarket.

The new Casio EX-F1 has an external microphone input, and all sorts of other nice features (300FPS, HD, Time machine) so you do not need to take it apart. Did Casio read this thread?このスレッドを*んでく*さい したか?ありがとうございます。Tha nk you very much.

But alas the monitor no longer swings around so that you can take video of yourself!

Casio, please, make the next version with a swing around monitor. Video cameras all have swing around monitors, and these are hybrids (i.e. they are video cameras as well as still cameras).
