I have had my EX-Z55 for over a year and had absolutely no problems with it up until recently. I do not know exactly how it happened but now everytime I try to turn it on, i just get a beep and nothing happens. It appears as if the gears are stuck or something. I do not know what to do about the problem nor how much it is going to cost. Where should I take it, send it back to the manufactuer? or just a repair shop? (whichever is cheapest). If anyone has any incite on this problem, I would greatly appreciate any information at all.

Probably a little late for any advice but I had the same issue. I started pressing buttons and by chance when I pressed the top and bottom of the large round scrolling button it came on. Then it would show a card error. Then I took out the SD card and it works fine. I think the card can go bad. Without it the camera operates the way it should. I have not had a chance to go buy a new card yet. But good luck
