any way to get Red Eye reduction setting to automatically kick in at night? or do i have to set it each time?

There is no auto + redeye setting. You would have to activate it every time you cycle the camera on and off or set the memory to "On" for the flash and have it start every time where it was the last time you used it.

Hi, if You ever use the red-eye function You always loose in cams performance and 90% get the re-eye/blurry photos- better to use normal flash and some post-processing (IMHO):-)
