I also have an F717 and I recently bought a Casio Z850. Quite small, 8MP, optical viewfinder and very bright LCD, manual controls, etc. I like it a lot and it takes great pics. If you do a lot of low light shooting, take a look at the Fuji F30. The undisputed low light champ of mini digital cameras.
Good luck.

one thing all these little cameras have in common is bad low light capability. not sure how much better the fuji is but ive never warmed up to the fuji line. 2 things you can do to improve your results under low lighting. use a triod and a mode that allows extended shutter times. or a slave flash unit, these will extend and improve over the wittle bitty flash units that are built in. obviously a flash thats good at best for 5 or 6 feet isnt going to do much at 10 or 12. even though it might be rated for a couple meters light fall off at that distance is extreme. it will want to push up iso to compensate and theres the trade off.
