Default Black with white spots

I know this is a photo based forum, having said that, can anyone ID this butterfly/moth. Is it rare to see one in PA?

This is a moth, rather than a butterfly, but I can't tell you which one, as there are a great many and a dearth of illustrations. You can post your photo on the BugGuide and someone may be able to identify it for you:


There are some spotted moths illustrated here (click on an image for more info), but yours does not seem to be among them:
