Cranky Looking

Never used a TC on my 70-210 f/4 I got in 1986, so thoght I 'd give it a try this morning. TC may of cost me a bit in sharpness or if it's just me today, I'll have shoot more to decide rather the TC is worth using on this lens.
Nikon 70-210 f/4 AF f/8 1/250 iso 560 TC 1.4 monopod.

Hey Dennis,
Its always a bit of a trade off, this one is pretty good regardless.
I use a 2X TC quite a bit in my macro shots. I even used one on my 55-300mm one evening to see what I could do in a 600mm moon shot. Its a hand held shot so, its shows a little camera shake but, I thought it did OK.

Thanks Goldwinger and nice moon with the TC. I put the TC2 on a 35-70 with a +4Closeup lens and done macro with good results but doesnt seem to work as well on the 70-210 the first go-round.Going to try it a couple more times to see if it was me that day or just dont work real good.

Thanks for the complement on the moon shot, Dennis.
As you know when you add the TC, it also makes the DOF a lot shallower.
That good in some ways but, makes it more critical on the focal point of your target.
Your dragon shot isn't a bad shot, just parts of it are more in focus than others.
Not much you can do to change that without compromising some other aspect.

Don't know if you are familiar with the Raynox 250 clip-on macro lens, or not but, I got one a few weeks back. You can add it to almost any lens for macro work and get pretty darn good results! for $50 its a great investment.

Heard of the raynox and seen pics that use it. A Canon 500D is on my short list in a 72 or 77. I have Hoyas in 52 and 62. Ony thing my short list keeps getting longer instead of shorter....:)
