Default Deadly embrace

I have seen dragon flies doing many things but this is a first.
I was walking along and saw two dragonflies in a position I'd never seen before.
If you are feint of heart, don't scroll down.

Took a few shots then went around to the other side to see if there was a better view.
After several days I decided to look at what I had and this blew me away.

The dragonfly clinging to the leaf got decapitated.
Sorry about the gruesome shot but I have never seen anything like it.
Nikon D5000 with Kit lenses, 18-55 55-200
