While explorin' and photographing an old abandoned farmhouse in rural Ontario this past summer, I found fragments of an old discarded newspaper in a kitchen drawer. This one piece caught my attention:

(dated Aug. 15, 1948)

"Box - Funeral Service" (I guess they upgraded from plastic bag burial options)

Hi S.K,

your picture is really, really rare and unusual. When seeing such a picture you go back into the past in your mind. The composition and colors give it a feeling of old times.

great job

Thanks JP.

The old abandoned farmhouse I found the scrap of paper in was at least turn-of-the-century built, and had a very old ambience and atmosphere to it. About ten feet from where I took the shot was a dead raccoon (mostly skeleton) in the middle of the kitchen floor.

Surprisingly, vandals haven't gotten to the place yet. It was relatively intact inside - kind've caught in a time-warp.

Thanks for the comments.

S.K.
