Here are three shots of an object. It is not a common household object but some may know what it is.

All shots with Nikon D100, Sigma 28-70mm, Aperture priority--f20, shutter--1-2 seconds, tripod, self-timer.

The first two shots added 12mm and 20mm stacked extension tubes. The third shot used 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm stacked tubes.

In the third shot, the "cap" is removed from the object.

Great shots! We've got these scattered around our house, so it's not too hard for me to guess. I'll go one step further and guess that it's for the freestyle meter :).

I'm most impressed by the depth of field you got in these shots. I've had some success with reversing the lens but the dof is paper thin.

Gocubs and Designmc are both correct. This is a lancet for a Freestyle blood glucose meter. I have type 2 Diabetes. The lancet with cap removed is placed into a spring loaded device to prick the skin to get that drop of blood for the meter.

I also have a One Touch Ultra meter but my confidence level in that one is not too high. The only difference between the lancets is the color (Freestyle--Gray, One Touch -- White) and the logo on the cap.

These pictures are about twice actual size.
