this yellow swallowtail shows up very nicely, backlit on its perch... this is a crop from a full-frame shot taken with the 100-400L @ 400mm, shot freehand at 1/125 @ f/11.

For some reason, the heads of these butterflies, when viewed close-up like this, have an other-worldly look - like something out of a science-fiction movie!
