This was taken in our backyard. Konica Minolta DiMage A2 F/3.5 1/160 sec ISO-200

Just thought I would share it. This passion vine also produced passion fruit.

Wow! Beats the white snow piling up at my doorstep!

I would have thought that with the F value so small, it would have only focused on a tiny part of the middle of the flower, leaving the rest completely out of focus, but your DOF is deeper than that. How big is that flower?

That would probably make a cool abstract, too! It is a beautiful flower.

Hi Wisconsin,

Thanks for the comment.I re-checked the F stop value and it really was F/3.5. I can't explain the good DOF other than the angle taken was kind of flat and the flower is not real small. They tend to measure about 4" or more in diameter.

These will attract bumble bees like crazy and also attract a certain type of butterfly (gulf fritillary). This one vine will have 3-4 bees and 20 - 50 butterflies and any time of the day from spring thru late summer. Makes quite a show of nature.
