Default Unkown Technicolor Flower

I'm a newbie with a Canon A60. I bought this camera for taking and archiving hiking pictures of weekend excursions into the wilds of the St. Louis area. The MO Botanical Gardens seemed like a perfect place to start.

This is my first camera, digital or otherwise, so I'm starting from scratch. Any and all criticism is welcomed!!

Let me know if you have problems with this link:

That a fine macroshot. You've got most of it right.
1. fine composition with the flower comming from one corner and end up near the middle. Fine.
2. Small DOF (depth of fields). We're concentrated on the flower, not anything else. Fine.

Only thing is - add some sharpness to the flower. You want to show how beautyful it is - do that!
Also be aware of the red flowers in the background. There were actually the first thing I noticed. Clone them away OR move you cameraposition next time you shoot.

Yes, good shot, I pretty much agree with Klaus but the red things don't bother me quite so much.

Default Flower identity

I like it and I'm glad you included the buds - they suggest to me that it's a variety of poppy.

If you want a more positive identification, you'll get replies from more knowledgeable folks than me if you go to the Garden Web & post it in their 'Name That Plant' forum.
