Default First Attempt at a Dandelion

Well.... I tried! Wouldn't hold still (worse than a kid) so all the shots ended up with a portion of the dandelion out of the frame. First shot is the up close, second one is a bit farther away. I like the second one better although it would be better with less depth of field, I think.

Good job isshinryu_mom, I very much like the detail captured.

A trick with the 5700 and marcos is to get the yellow marco icon to show, then physically move in closer and re-focus with the shutter release (not the zoom) ...I have found it to be quite useful on marco shots that don't move

I like the first one. Dandelions are so much prettier when they're in some elses backyard.
You could always try some post-processing in photoshop (If you have it) for the second one to simulate less depth of field by applying some gaussian blur to the background.

I agree with Jazz.. the first one is more eye appealing. The second pic should probably be cropped so that the dandelion isn't lost in the background.

The detail in the first shot is what grabs my attention even if you can't see the entire flower.

Strange, I actually like the second one best - reminds me of hot dreamy summer days in the open fields.

I had a go at this fluffy thing myself at night time using flash:

I also tried to capture one just after blowing it, but I failed to get the timing right before I ran out of them.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.

Steve, your nighttime shot is very good.... I would never have thought of taking this shot at night. Keep trying to get a shot of one after "making a wish".... that would be a cool shot!
